I used dBpowerAMP (www.dbpoweramp.com) for years and was very happy with it for a long time but wanted to change because dAP wasn't keeping up with my tagging requirements. I tried (in no particular order) MP3 Tagger, MP3 Tag Studio, MP3 Explorer, Dr. Tag, ID3-TagIT, Jaikoz, Tag&Rename and MediaMonkey. MediaMonkey was the only one to satisfy all my requirements including synchronisation with both mine and SWMBO's iPods - it's an excellent piece of work. I have the paid-for version but your friend could download the 'free' version to have a play to see if it satisfies their needs. (I suspect you'll get almost as many different recommendations as there are pieces of software!)
