I've used Felix' circuit diagram to build switch inside an extension
cord that powers the active speakers in my living room. My electronics
skills are fairly limited, but I got it to work after first mounting the
transistor the wrong way around. Note that ampswitch doesn't work if
you're using Squeezenetwork.

I also have two T-Amp's and I intended to do what you're planning first.
But mine are plugged into an AC adapter and they use so little power
that I decided to keep them on permanently. They're quiet enough for
that, I only hear a little noise if I put my ear against the speakers.

I asked Felix if changing the relay to a 12 volt version would be
enough, and he suggested changing the resistors to 3.3k ohm as well (no
guarantees, of course, if you break anything, you get to keep the
pieces). I think the t-amp housing is big enough to put the circuit
inside the battery compartment. I intenden to add a manual override
switch and a mini-jack connector to the housing. That way the only thing
needed to use ampswitch would be a jack - jack cord running to the SB
headphone connector. Quite an elegant solution for an SB T-Amp combo...

Regards,
Peter
