I think for someone in your situation, you should *never* upgrade
unless there is a new feature you need or a bug fix that you need.
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind. There is the
temptation, I know, to download the latest and greatest. My
experience with software and firmware is this -- if you aren't unhappy
with the current behavior, then upgrading is not worth the risk. IMO.
Dan recently posted a note about roadmap in the developers list. The
roadmap is currently very old and isn't easily kept up to speed with
the REAL development of the project. Given the time in amongst
everything else, there is an item on the list to update the roadmap.
Right now, the "next" official release is a fluid thing 6.2.2 JUST
came out, and there is an opening for 6.2.3 if there are any big issues
as a result of wide use of 6.2.2. Barring that, then 6.3 will quickly
become the focus. Plans mentioned on that one include rework of
internet radio, most notably the Shoutcast plugin due to major changes
on the shoutcast site. You can also search bugs.slimdevices.com for
bugs currently targetted for 6.3, and 6.5.
6.5 involves splitting off the scanning, a move to mysql and will
likely have more added and refocussed over the coming weeks.
