I'm assuming you're still at the point where the SB's are looking for a
firmware upgrade. If not, ignore the rest of this post.

I vaguely remember someone having a similar problem to yours, and it
was down to old batteries in the SB2 remote.

Just to rule them out as a root cause, can you put 2 fresh batteries
into your remote before holding down the brightness button for 5
seconds.

Have you ever done a firmware upgrade on any of your SB's before?

Much earlier in this thread, you were asked to look in Windows event
viewer. Have you done this? Are there an Slim releated messages in the
Application section of the event log.
to run Event Viewer, you can go to the Windows Start menu, click on
run, and type eventvwr.msc into the box which appears, then click ok.

My experience is that if you remain calm and provide as much info  as
possible, the people on these forums will do their best to help fix
your issue.
