Actually, Radish, while I respect your well thought-out post, I beg to
disagree.

It is not ok to berate or abuse or be rude to people you've pay to help
you either. Professionals deserve every ounce of the same respect.  

I do agree that if you're seeking help gratis, as a courtesy, an ever
higher standard applies. One which this mook fell woefully short of,
repeatedly. There is no excuse for his behavior.  We all get
frustrated, and we're all expected to comport ourselves like adults,
with civility. Once that social contract is unilaterally broken, no
further obligation exists. I'll take it a step further and say that not
only does not further obligation exist, but in a case like this where
help is far from a serious quality of life issue, that any altruistic
tendency to continue assisting bespeaks of misplaced consideration and
is worthy of analysis.  There are plenty of people in need of the time
and energy spent on this misplaced assistance and compassion that
better deserve it.
