Ceejay, I am a great believer in solving 90% (or preferably 95%) of the problems with a simple solution - providing that it can be implemented easily (i.e. quickly)...
I would suggest; logging on to the server via the web interface, selecting a player and submitting a "limit" option. Here you can exclude Genres or Paths. This is not a 100% solution, but would solve the 'content' (as defined by genre) and 'ownership' (as defined by path) problems.
