IIRC, only 4 of the 8 wires in an ethernet cable are used, so you could use the other 4 instead of only using 2, and you'd drop your voltage drop roughly in half. But I have to say this isn't a really good idea. Having a resistor in series with your power supply is going to introduce noise in your audio out.
