I paused the play of a long (120 minite) mp3 file. When I returned about an hour later, the position counter had advanced by about an hour and was continuing to count up in what looked like real time. But the clip wasn't playing. Pressing pause restarted the output and the counter just kept counting. I can't be sure were in the clip it was actually playing.
