Press and hold ADD places it in the zapped songs playlist. This removes it from the current playlist and marks it (by placing it in the zapped songs playlist) for possible deletion.
Personally speaking, I'd rather not be able to delete files using the remote or even the web interface. I just know I'd accidentally use it.
