Rescan can take a long time. It takes at least 2 hours on my (admittedly underpowered) system (1042 flac albums, Slimserver 6.3, XP Home Lite on a 192khz, 512mg PII). You should check for any erroneous shortcuts or playlists linking to removed files. Also cue files can cause problems (but not usually with scanning time). I have my system set up so it scans automatically every night in the small hours. If I want to add music in before this I view the new music via "Browse Music Folder" which automatically adds it to the SlimServer database.
