This code does not belong in Slimserver, for the simple reason that it
should not run over and over again.

However, it does need to be done as part of a complete music solution.

Which is why, from time to time, I say that Slim should come up with a
smart tagger.

The tagger should be user friendly, should contain certain "rules" like
whether case matters to you or not, should say that KDLang and K.D.Lang
and K. D. Lang map to the same thing (or not if you don't care),
likewise "Clash" and "The Clash" and whether you prefer Springsteen,
Bruce or Bruce Springsteen and should rewrite the tags as appropriate.

However much people didn't like the Audiotron, it came with a piece of
software called Audiostation. Now Audiostation had a lot of problems,
but one cool feature was that you could group your library by artist
tags or by genre tags and notice that you had both Beatles and Baetles
in your collection. By dragging the ones that were wrong into the
folder of the correct one, you repaired all the bad tags, in one drag.
It was cool. Similarly, Disco and Dsico, etc. It also contained some
neat logic for speeding up entry if you were tagging yourself - it let
you select an existing artist or type your own in, also genre. So after
a while, if you already had some Beatles, you didn't have to retype
them.
