The whole wireless networking thing is such a mixed bag. I've been having problems with my SB playing OK for a bit (minutes, not hours) then starting to stutter. Like you I've got the less then perfect (though domestically necessary) situation of the SB, router and server (all Belkin kit) all being independently connected to the same wireless network.
It's 802.11g so bandwidth shouldn't be a problem but it seems as if the wireless kit in the SB is the problem. It's at the other end of the same room as the router, while the PC is directly above in the upstairs back bedroom. The trouble is that while the PC/Router connection is rock-solid at 97-100% signal strength, the SB manages 60% at best and drops as low as 35%, which is when the stuttering starts. Poor considering it's in line-of-sight of the router. Anyway, I debated whether to shell out for triple set of Homeplug mains ethernet widgets but didn't want to spend £120 making all my wireless kit redundant. In the end I paid £40 for another wireless access point, which I've used in bridge mode to extend the network and I've connected the SB to it with an ethernet cable. Since then it's behaved impeccably. -- hifisteve ------------------------------------------------------------------------ hifisteve's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4227 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24171 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
