        Not once? Wow.

Perhaps it's because my company provides software and hardware
service, but replacing deceased hard drives is de rigeur for us.
Over the past 20 years, I don't think it's an exaggeration to say
I've personally worked on a few dozen (and I'm not in support).
Heck, I must have 3 notebook drives sitting around my office
alone that have flamed out (one literally) but I haven't had
the heart to toss yet for some stupid reason.

I had a brand new Maxtor 250GB completely fail on me about 6m
back. Calls to their support center confirmed it. They sent me
a new 300GB to replace it, free of charge. I'm buying Maxtors
        now!
