I should have given a status update but I thought I would solve the latest bug quickly.
usually suitable unofficial builds of mplayer for windows can be found here http://oss.netfarm.it/mplayer-win32.php . However the fix for AACplus is later than these builds so I tried build a Windows mplayer myself. I had some initial difficulties but now I have an mplayer build which plays aacplus stations fine when used standalone but when used with Slimserver it has bug. This bug seems to be specific to Win32(MinGW32) and only when used in the slimserver context (i.e. streaming input & output) . I have had problems in a Linux/Slimserver config so I think the issues is related Win32 build differences.
