I agree with you, Ceejay, but of course the computer can't tell why you capitalized.
I think it's fair to say that, for most people, the capitalization that the text was entered with is the capitalization it should be displayed with. In addition, for the purposes of comparison, it should be possible to search with case independence and diacritical-mark independence (that is, the letter "e" should match any of èéêë, etc). To do this in full generality requires a knowledge of the underlying language. For instance, in Hungarian, these are considered 3 different letters: s sz cs This is in general a hard problem to solve. You don't always know what language a song title is in. Even with ID3 tags, which contain a language descriptor, there are songs where the title isn't all in one language. I think there was an example recently of a song that was part Hebrew, part English ... the question came up, which way should it scroll ... So many questions, grasshopper. -- Michaelwagner ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Michaelwagner's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=428 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24093 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
