Can i use the squeezebox as a wireless music player.
I have some questions about the squeezebox:
I want a solution where i can play all my music from my coputer
(Examble play all my music via winamp, select tracks the tracks i want
to listen to, in winamp) Then transmitted via a wireless network to a
device. Then the device are connected to my audio reciever (Via an
digital cable) Can the Squeezebox manage that? Or am i forced to select
what music i want to listen to via the squuezebox?
You need to draw a distinction between a wireless sound card and a wireless networked music player.
The former will play whatever you play from whatever music application you like, presumably along with all the other little noises that your computer makes. These can be purchased for $CHEAP from the usual suspects: Creative, NetGear, and whatever CompUSA's house brand is named today.
The latter will play whatever you load into its own music server, without winamp's help. This is more flexible, more powerful, and more expensive, and it's what Squeezebox does. To get a feel for it, download the Slimserver software to your computer, point it at your music library, and let it scan. When it's done, open the web interface and go to Help > SoftSqueeze -- this will load a software emulation of the Squeezebox hardware, so you can see what it's like to use the hardware and/or the web interface.
