If you have a server for music, why not install SlimServer on that? 
That would also allow remote control of all players.  They can be
turned off and on, volume adjusted and playlist changed from any
location that can access the server, and if the client didn't have
access to that, they couldn't change anything.

A server is absolutely essential for Squeezebox operation.  The
Squeezebox is a streaming audio -client-.  It contains very little -
the computing power is in the server.  It's a slim device, hence the
name of the company.
