Personally, I really wouldn't do that if I were you. You've already identified two situations - hard reboot and firmware upgrade - where you might need to "see" it. And, besides, isn't it nice to be able to SEE what's playing?
If you really want blind ceiling speakers then you might be better off dispensing with the SB altogether and running straight audio cable from a multi-channel PC sound card...
