You could send any songs you don't like to the "zapped" playlist (press
and hold "add" while the song is playing).  Then use the 'skipped zapped
songs' plugin (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=23175) to
have slimserver not play them.  I haven't tried the plugin myself so
I'm not sure if they still appear in your collection when you browse,
but you definitely won't hear them in your random mixes anymore.  And
if you ever want to hear those tracks again just turn off the plugin.

I don't use favorites but there is an outstanding bug that might be
what you're seeing.

If my memory serves me right there's a plugin that does something
that's more along the lines of what you're trying to do but I can't
seem to find it right now...
