Hi Lance
The CS-406e would be the best choice, followed by the DS-101g+. The
processors of all DS (and the CS) are comparable (all have 266 MHZ /
BogoMIPS). But these two have 128 and 64 MB RAM, compared to the 32 MB
RAM of the DS101j and the 106e.
My recommendation: try to get a DS101g+ because it has just enough RAM
to run SS very well. They are still available in certain shops and on
ebay and such. If you don't get one, take the DS101j. It has no fan but
still enough resources to run SS. It will be a bit slow or sluggish for
certain operations like indexing, searching and the web interface. The
music will still play smoothly, though.
Btw, you'll find all the answers in the README.txt of SSODS (sections
"Hardware" and "Performance")...

Hi,
I'm so happy to have found SSODS and I'm gonna buy a disk station as
soon as I've sorted out these questions.
It seems like the DS-101g+ is not available anymore from synology, the
CS-406 is a bit to fancy and pricy for me, so my options are:
DS-101j (IDE/266MHz/32Mb)
DS-106 (SATA/???MHz/??Mb)
DS-106e (SATA/266MHz/32Mb)
Which is the best diskstation for running SSODS?
I've read somewhere that the 101j only runs at 166MHz and I can't find
any information about the 106 hardware, does anyone know?
There's a performance comparsion on the synology website
(http://www.synology.com/enu/products/DS106serise/perf.php) showing
that the 106 is faster than the 106e, so it seems like it has better
hardware.
I'm hoping that the 106 has 64Mb of memory since the SSODS takes about
40Mb...
