The problem was some mp3 files I had ripped in iTunes. For some unknown reason iTunes created a folder name with unprintable characters in the name. I changed iTunes setting to "Keep iTunes Music folder organized" (in Preferences, Advanced, General). This caused iTunes to rename the folders and that did it - Slimserver started working again.
