Good call. I could do without it.

The fact that it acts like a regular clock once it has been "warmed up"
(or should I say wound up) is fine.

The fact that it starts at noon and advances itself whenever you go to
the page is poor human factors, because it behaves in a surprising way
and distracts you.

Norman wrote that human interfaces should minimize "surprise", that is,
iconic human interfaces should act the way their iconic parallels do. An
alarm clock with visible bells should make a bell sound, not, say, an
air raid siren sound.

Clocks only move like that in horror movies, precisely because it's
such a surprise. A web page should not act like a scene from a horror
movie unless that is the intended effect.

In general, I think all interface design should follow this simple
dictum: -Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should-.
