IMO, forums are places for people to vent
I disagree. I don't think "venting" in a public place--and I consider forums to be a public place--is ever appropriate. If you want to vent to a friend in email, fine, but to do it in public is at best impolite. Particularly given the well-documented (and rather large) possibility that email can be misinterpreted, I think that courtesy should be the rule. And I don't think adults should have to be told to be courteous.
