you sohlud definitely get a message in the event log if Slimserver is
dying after start-up. Are you sure it starts at all?

Go to the Services control panel. Type Start->Run->Services.msc

When this applet opens, scroll down until you find the Slimserver
entry.

Does it say Slimserver Startup type is set to Automatic, Log On is set
to Localsystem.
If so right-click on the entry and select Start.
After a few seconds, the Slimserver service should change to started or
you'll get an error dialog telling you why it couldn't start.

If the services starts & dies, eventviewer will have an entry.
