I think you have your answer - the freebsd port is not being maintained.
If you get it working on Freebsd, please let me know what you did to
make it work.  The latest version I have working in freebsd is 6.2.2.
Even then, I have one where musicmagic won't work and one where it will.
In the one where it won't work, it says there is a button to click to
enable music magic, but no button is visible.
