I use Album Cover Art Downloader (http://kempele.fi/~skyostil/projects/albumart/) for this task. It's not perfect, but it works OK and it's free. You do have to go through and view each album individually to see the possible artwork choices and select the one you want to use. (My portable MP3 player, a SanDisk e260, displays such artwork on the screen while its playing.)
