I can verify that yes, this works. I have SS running on my wife's Mac, set to launch at startup. It works whether or not I'm logged in. If you want to launch SS whenever you log in or manually, you can also do this... Fast User Switching will not affect it as long as you are logged in (or SS is set to launch at startup).
