Sean, just for the sake of discussion I too have a similar problem, but ONLY on start up of the first song played after turning the player on. SB3. The first 1/2 second or so of the song is cut off. All songs played after that play just fine no matter how I play them.....search, browse, playlist etc. This also happens if Pandora is the first thing to be played after the SB3 is turned on. I have thought about it being my pre amp too, could be I guess. I have tried turning the pre amp on and off while leaving the SB3 on and the problem does not occur so I really think that it's the SB3. And not that it's a huge problem, just a bit annoying. Over all I love the device.
I have an Outlaw 990. SB3 is connected via coax playing all FLAC except Pandora obviously. Everything over Gigabit Ethernet, NO wireless. And no I haven't tried analog, doesn't bother me that much. Just FYI.
