You may want to uninstall, delete (or rename) the /Program Files/SlimServer/ directory, and then install 6.5.  I noticed that when I uninstalled, it left the directory behind, and perhaps some of the stuff in that directory was causing the problem.

But I am still experiencing intermittent crashes after the upgrade.  They aren't as frequent as I initially reported -- I suspect the increased initial frequency may have been because it was still scanning my music library while I was changing server and player settings.  Now that it is done scanning, it has crashed two or three times over a day or two.  These more recent crashes happened just during playback, not when I was doing anything with the web interface.

I'm experiencing exactly the same behavior when trying to update to 6.5,
except that I first uninstalled slimserver 6.3 using the uninstall
utility, and then re-installed 6.5.  I cannot get slimserver to start,
and get the same message in the Event Viewer with no other clues to the
failure of the service to start.  Please help!
