The coolest uses would be in conjunction with Slimserver and
Squeezebox, though. It could display album art, track info, album
reviews, current playlist, or other info while the music plays. You
could display a different set of pictures for each
artist/album/genre/playlist. You could get album art off the net if it
wasn't in your music files or folders.

Then create your own skin template to just display a modified status.html
