That's true in the general case, i.e. it's impossible to guarantee
gapless playback for any arbitrary set of mp3 files. However, there are
ways of getting gapless from mp3 in a lot of cases. The easiest and most
foolproof is to read the tags that LAME has been embedding for quite
some time which indicate the amount of padding on the end of the file
which should be skipped. If the files are LAME encoded (and I'd guess
most are) and the player reads the tags, then gapless is perfectly
possible. Most software players (Winamp, Foobar, etc) and even some
hardware players (Rio Karma) read these tags. Squeezebox could and
should.
