That's true in the general case, i.e. it's impossible to guarantee gapless playback for any arbitrary set of mp3 files. However, there are ways of getting gapless from mp3 in a lot of cases. The easiest and most foolproof is to read the tags that LAME has been embedding for quite some time which indicate the amount of padding on the end of the file which should be skipped. If the files are LAME encoded (and I'd guess most are) and the player reads the tags, then gapless is perfectly possible. Most software players (Winamp, Foobar, etc) and even some hardware players (Rio Karma) read these tags. Squeezebox could and should. -- radish ------------------------------------------------------------------------ radish's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=77 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=26874 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
