This is probably unrelated but ... I rip live mp3 streams from the internet. The ripped file starts mid frame. So the player must find the first good frame, by searching for the sync bytes and then validating. I suspect that slim does a less robust validation than other players, and thus sometimes gets confused at the start. It usually resyncs correctly.
