Running a SlimServer on a desktop is possible, but why do it?
Just to play devil's advocate, how about anyone living in a studio apt
or college dorm. Granted, most of these people probably aren't buying
SB's but iPods.
That said, I've never even run SlimServer on anything but the headless
Debian box in my basement for the last three years.
Right, there may be a few people, but if you have a full blown PC
desktop, I don't see what a SqueezeBox buys. The beauty of the
SqueezeBox is not having a PC. Most folks will be happy with the sound
card in the motherboard. And if you are more picky, many sound card
upgrades are less than the price of the SqueezeBox.
