You've not said what you were running before you upgraded - 6.3.1 perhaps?
Several things to try: first, make sure you have completely cleaned out your old slimserver installation first (rename rather than delete might be safer!). Second, download a 6.5.1 nightly instead of 6.5.0 - there are a lot of little bug fixes. Third, make sure you have updated versions of all your plugins - a lot of plugins need new versions to work with 6.5.
