Wireless to multiple players could always be a bit flaky especially in
a large house where coverage could be patchy. Possible alternative
wireless router see Radish post

You could also consider some powerline ethernet adapters such as Devolo
Microlink - I don't use them myself but there are a number of
discussions about this technology on this forum.  Have a look here:
