If both id3v1 and in3v2 tags are found, SlimServer should read only the id3v2 tags, which can contain more information (more types of data, and longer entries for titles and names). The problem that it can cause, though, is that many other programs such as taggers, will do a "merge" of the tags and when you view them in the program's interface, you'll see a combination of both id3v1 and id3v2 tags. You could easily not be able to tell that a piece of data only exists in the id3v1 tag. For instance, if you had a track number only in the id3v1 tag, then SlimServer would not see it and you'd wonder why.

I normally do a clear/rescan, but mine only takes 12 minutes. From what I recall, a "Look for new and changed" type scan takes about the same amount of time. > Currently, I backup my prefs file, and reinstall SS, but this is kind of > a pain. I'm not sure what you're looking for here. Why not just use the clear/rescan to accomplish the same thing? The library scan you do shouldn't be any faster by reinstalling the program and starting with a fresh database. I would think that even on very slow hardware the "clear" step of a clear/rescan should take just a few seconds. -- JJZolx Jim ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29731 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
