Hi,

I have the same problem - however, the mac.exe that is included as part
of the SS install is the latest 3.99 and is definately there. I get
exactly the same error message.

here are my stats:
----------------------------
SlimServer Version: 6.5.0 - 9916 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252
Server IP address: 192.168.1.3
Perl Version: 5.8.7 MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt
----------------------------

Check you have this file:
C:\Program
Files\SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\mac.exe

...assuming you chose the default location during SS install ;-)

This is the .exe used by SS to provide on-the-fly transcoding and
transcoding options are configured inside the file:

C:\Program Files\SlimServer\server\convert.conf

If you do have this file and SS is still coming back with the same
message then it must be something else other than missing mac.exe,
IMHO.

I've even tried installing the latest 3.99f mac.exe from the Monkey's
Audio distro into the dir, but it doesn't fix the problem.

The reason I say it might be linked is that I replied to a previous
post in here re transcoding problem as part of troubleshooting why some
of my .ape's are no longer playing (work fine in foobar etc).

Think I've ruled out tagging as an issue - I've tried every combination
of apev1/v2 and id3v1/2 re-tagging, but doesnt fix the problem.

Internet Exporer v7 has just sprawled it's way onto my pc running SS
(my mistake!!) within the last 7 days and this is the time period
during which I've perceived general problems. I had to explicitly
re-configure the "intranet" security, as first up after upgrading IE, I
could no longer effect changes to the SS config. Double-clicking or
even triple-clicking on a <change> button in SS server config got round
the problem before I changed "intranet" settings!

Maybe IE7 is the underlying problem? who knows - I continue to
investigate this annoying problem!

If anyone finds the solution, I owe them a virtual beer!

ATB,

Rowland.
