I think the difference here is that you are looking at this from a legal
perspective, while I am coming at it from an ethical angle.

IMO it is unethical to sell something and not give back part to the
owner.  Putting into place international structures as a legal
smokescreen doesn't change this.

We should concentrate on what (I think) we agree on - the lowering of
barriers to international trade and ease of reproducing recordings
perfectly has caused issues for the record companies, and their
response has been inadequate and inappropriate.
