I use MusicIP from within SlimServer to generate playlists and save them in SlimServer. Lots of discussion in both MusicIP and SlimServer forums on how to setup MusicIP to work properly. These days, after a server re-start I start MusicIP, then stop SlimServer, then start SlimServer.
