I own and love my squeezebox, and have purchased one other for a friend, and have probably helped sell another few, but the bulk of my listening is streaming over the 'net to where I am when I'm *not* at my squeezebox, and in fact Slimserver's ability to allow me to enjoy my collection anywhere in the world was the main reason I ended up getting a Squeezebox...
That being said, I listen to the stream with foobar, and can't stand when the stream skips and has gaps... though in my case, I think it has more to do with bitrate variations between tracks as I'm usually listening random vs. track-to-next-track on an album. I have a feature request in somewhere to have the option of nailing the stream solid to a particular bitrate (using lame transcoding), so that when I set it to 160, 192, or even 320, the stream that comes out is always that rate ABR... that combined with gapless streambuilding as discussed here would I think be a great enhancement. Definitely not the best from an audiophile standpoint, but I'm talking about my everyday usage where I'm generally transcoding anyway (and enjoying the hell out of my 192kbps (or higher if the bandwidth at work is good) stream!)... -- vacaboca ------------------------------------------------------------------------ vacaboca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2715 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=30753 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
