Backups are a good idea, but this isn't the reason why you might need
them when doing mass tagging. If Mp3tag crashes, it can do no worse
than trash a single file. Even then I think that's unlikely, as Mp3tag
probably writes out a temp file, then replaces the orginal after all of
the tags are written. The chances of damage due to a crash are pretty
small.

The poster above ran into a problem because his settings weren't saved
within Mp3tag following a crash, not because the crash damaged the
files. He wasn't aware of this and he messed up a large number of
tags.

The risk is that you'll do something that insn't easily reversible. On
a handful of files, this is far from a disaster, as you can easily go
back and manually recreate the tags. On a couple thousand files, it
becomes an issue.

As always, _TEST_ your scripts and automated tasks on a subset of your
library. Apply them to large numbers of files only when you're 100%
confident that they behave as you expect. When testing Mp3tag mass
tagging actions I'll first make a copy of an album, or a few varied
albums and apply the tags to the copies first, before unleashing the
operation on the whole library.
