Thank you very much. I have been having problems with scanner.exe
running at 99% CPU with the latest 6.51 release. I deleted my playlists
and now it has returned to normal. In fact I don't even see scanner.exe
any more. I recently moved my mp3 directory to another drive so all
playlists contained invalid data, maybe this explains the problem with
scanner.exe. 
Anyway all working ok now.
