Another nice thing about doing it that way is that you usually get a longer warranty by buying an internal drive and mounting it in a box yourself. I have a Seagate 750GB drive that I put in an external enclosure because the boxed retail (non OEM) version of the drive comes with a 5 year warranty. If you buy the same drive from Seagate as an external you only get a one year warranty. That doesn't make too much sense to me but that's what the warranty says. OEM drives generally only have a one year warranty even if the same drive as retail carries a longer one. I've been very happy with my Seagate drives. I had a bunch of Maxtor 40 and 120 GB externals fail on me but I currently have about 8 of the Maxtor external 300GB drives which have been reliable. -- fred7 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ fred7's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6523 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=31321 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
