Actually this works just fine for me. The critical component you're missing is a command-line ReplayGain scanner for MP3s, which is 'MP3Gain' (http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/). Figuring out mareo.ini isn't easy, I agree with you, but it's about the same as figuring out the rest of the stuff you propose.
