I don't use things like this, but I believe I see them all the time on
Majorgeeks.com.

Anything from the former Sysinternals is good.  These are usually small
downloads, bug free, simple yet very powerful, and for the most part,
free.  What's more, they're often an executable only, no install
required.  It's now a part of Microsoft:

Looks like TCPView will nicely address the "who's connected to what"
question, but not the bandwidth question.
