There's a big difference between a client in the general sense, and a
webapp client. A stand-alone client can be written in a proper typesafe
language with a compiler that gives you warnings. It can do more complex
server requests. It can manage its own memory. It can manage state much
more easily. It can be developed in a system where unit tests are
easier to run.
