IIRC The use of socketwrapper by the ALAC decoder is different to the
use by wmadec so I don't expect the alternative socketwrapper to solve
the problem.  However each new version of these security software get
more and more zealous in blocking apps which network in unexpected
ways.

It would be better to uninstall McAfee and see if the problem goes
away.  That would be a definitive way of identifying the problem.
