I put double/triple CDs in a single directory and use tracknumber tags to specify the disc- 101 for first song on disc 1, 201 for first song on disc 2, etc. It makes for fewer directories, and only one copy of art work is required. Seems to work fine with thumbnails and large images.
I think SS grabs artwork from file folders unless it is embedded in the music files. If you put a copy of the art work and thumbnail in each CD directory I think it will work.
