Erland, My best answer would probably be "all of the above". It really depends on the situation, time of day, mood, if I'm alone or with guests, etc. One of the real benefits of the SS/SB setup for me is the amazing flexibility of ways to start and then continue playing music. For me, once you master the slight idiosyncrasies of things like going right and then down a couple of times on a now playing screen to use the current track as a seed for MIP, you can do pretty much whatever you want. Admittedly this sort of methodology does not have a high WAF but that's where pre-defined playlists of stuff I know she likes come in, tied to a favourites button for simplicity.
When I do want to search I usually use Lazy Search which allows the neat trick of thinking of a particular tune (I'm a jazz listener) and getting a list of all of the versions I have of that on the system and then playing them all with a couple of button presses - makes for interesting comparisons if you are that way inclined. I would say that making playlists is pretty difficult using SS alone but I have hit on a simple method (on Linux) of using XMMS which enables me to drag and drop flac files out of my music folder onto a list window which can then be easily saved as a Playlist. It will even randomise the list for you before saving. Basically I'm happy with the way things are but of course YMMV. davep -- davep ------------------------------------------------------------------------ davep's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=61 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32202 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
