I had this problem somehow... I used the debugging thing and it mentioned a mysql problem.
I thought i would reinstall mysql using adept with 6.10 kubuntu and did so to move up to 5.0. I then purged slimserver reinstalled and the web access returned. whether doing this helped I don't know, but I thought posting might help others. if this comment should be moved please let me know.
